These outputs ranged from meaningless games to the revelation of hidden lore and everything in between. The players discovered it had a terminal, and began inputting commands into it to gauge its outputs. During the ARG, Pinary transcended time and space, becoming an omniscient A.I. The alternate reality game centers around Probect Pinary, a prototype of Project Binary that had the vocal skills of a small child, yet seemingly possessed the actual A.I.'s intelligence. The story is really good though and keeps you wanting to see what happens next.The Pinary ARG was the codifier of the text adventure genre, and arguably the most successful adventure. The gameplay is pretty old school (not amazing, but solid). Wolfenstein: The New Order and its sequel are also good ones if you want more of a straightforward FPS game. They're all in your sweet spot range I think (maybe a little shorter). I think it probably took me about 12-13 hours to finish without going out of my way to find every little thing.Īnd if you haven't played the Uncharted series on PS4, I'd highly recommend those for a fun, blockbuster movie sort of experience. It's got a lot of the hallmarks of a classic Resident Evil game but also changes things up in a lot of smart ways (including going for a first-person perspective). If you like horror games, definitely check out Resident Evil 7. Here are a couple of random recommendations: I usually still try and make my way through some longer games but since a big open world game will take me several months to finish, I try to do some shorter games on the side at the same time. I'm in a similar situation to you in terms of what games I have time for. Finally, the platforms I'm interested would be PC, PS4, and Switch. Doesn't have to have been a major impact just something that made you feel good when you finished it. I'm looking for games that you guys have played, and that have positively impacted you. I'm aware of, but those numbers don't really reflect any kind of quality. My definition of short is less than 20 hours to see everything important (not 100%), with 13-15 hours being my sweetspot. They help me try different genres and get tons of different experiences pretty quickly. It's also easier to move on from one if I don't really like it, since they're not huge investments. Instead, I've been noticing that shorter games have basically been the only thing I've been finishing, and they generally feel more rewarding to me. I've noticed that it's a lot harder to sit down and finish long games, and while I appreciate lengthy CRPGs and meaty open world games, I find that a lot of times they just don't fit my schedule. Like many of you here, the daily duties of life have taken a bit of a toll on my gaming time.
